The Preservation of Fragments '2010' (link to low res video and video stills)

Watch Film

I have always remembered the day that we found a whale lying beached and stagnant on empty sands. I found photographs in a wooden chest at my fathers house; we stand still in front of the decomposing black mass, forever captured in an existence that prevails time. Taken from my mind and made into palpable representations. My own venture does not venture further than these. If i concentrate hard enough flashes and bursts of detail come to my mind. Fragmented and vague, but fervid enough to spark feelings of nausea and happiness.

I felt that I needed to go on a journey of preservtion. Memories trickle through my layers of consciousness and become so easily lost without recognition.

What are we without our memories?
